Solar Smart Living LLC. has successfully installed a Raum 3.5kw Wind Turbine at the El Paso Zoo, through Imperial Electric's mentoring/training program.

Zoo officials had requested a Skystream wind turbine, but were showed the benefits and differences of the Raum wind turbine and decided that the product was a better fit for the new extension of the zoo, due to be opened in June 2010.
The zoo has incorporated an educational facility for both wind and solar power into it's African/Savannah exhibit area and will feature power monitoring on a display screen of both the Raum wind turbine and the solar array that has been installed. Don Hearold and Jeff Hatch from Imperial Electric, were on hand to mentor and train the installation team at Solar Smart Living. The installation included a Raum 3.5kw wind turbine and a old Skystream tower that was painted orange and had a African themed wrap. The tower was easlily adapted to fit the turbine with a noise isolater kit. Please see pictures of the installation below.
